![]() TO MAXIMISE THE OCCUPANCY OF YOUR VACATION HOME BID-A-WEEK is intended for when, as a Property Owner, you still have rental periods available over the coming month or so. Instead of advertising them at a last minute fixed reduced rate you can put these weeks up for auction. BID-A-WEEK properties will then be listed under the on-screen BID-A-WEEK tab button. Contained in this section you will find a list of all the properties and rental periods that are available and up for auction by date order. Potential renters can then browse the properties and rental periods that are on offer. When a bidder/renter finally selects a property they wish to make a BID on they simply click on the property which will then take them directly to the owners’ page, displaying the full property details and here you will see the MAKE A BID FORM. Your Bid will never be seen by anyone except the Property Owner who has to respond to all bids within 7 days. After this time, if the owner has not responded the bidder/renter can formally withdraw their offer enabling them to bid on another property. It is extremely important that before you make an offer you check that the dates on offer and property are what you are looking for and of course if your bid is successful, you honour your Bid. Remember that as the Owner of the Property being offered on BID-A-WEEK, the choice is always yours as to whether you accept or decline a BID. We have found that sometimes all it takes is a reduction of a further 5-10% of the original rental price to get that extra booking, which most owners are always seeking.
HOW DOES “BID-A-WEEK” WORK FOR THE PROPERTY OWNER?
When you advertise your property on our “BID-A-WEEK” section your property will become live within 24 hours and will be shown in date order, but Bids cannot be made until 6 weeks prior to the dates available. i.e. If you add your property in April but the dates on offer are not until 10th October – 24th October, your advertisement will still be seen and can be viewed as well as receive normal enquiries for any other dates not on Bid-a-Week. The actual Bid-a-Week form will not appear on the bottom of your main advert until 6 weeks prior to the 10th October and will run until the 11.59pm that night, which is when your advert will automatically be removed unless you accept an offer prior to this date, where you will be able to simply unpublish your Bid-a Week Advertisement.
You can register as many “BID-A-WEEK” periods as you wish throughout the year totally Free of Charge. The maximum rental period cannot be any longer than 1 calendar month, but please bare in mind that the majority of vacation rental seekers are normally looking for a 1 or 2 week period so would suggest that you take this into account when using Bid-A-Week. MAKING A BID
Prospective renters/bidders please take into consideration when placing your bid that Property Owners still have to maintain their properties (normally to an extremely high standard) as well as paying management fees, utility bills, and possibly a mortgage. If pool heating is required this is normally charged in addition to your BID. The property owner’s normal rental prices will be seen on their bookings page, so please be courteous and use this as a guide when placing your bid. Enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the rental period on offer. This is then sent directly to the property owner and within 7 days they have to accept or decline your offer. You will receive an Email direct from the owner with a simple message saying either, “Congratulations your Bid has been accepted and we will contact you shortly”, or, “Unfortunately your bid has not been accepted this time but please try again”.
If within 7 days you have not received a reply from the Property Owner, you then have the option to withdraw your offer enabling you to place a bid on another property. Good luck!!!
